Hello Again LIGHT Families!
I feel as if it’s been forever since I have been in touch. I hope that you are all in the midst of a fun and relaxing summer season.
Things are going smoothly at the parish with the transition of pastors and our new ‘affiliated’ status. Father Plante is settling in to the big job of overseeing both St. Francis and St. Catherine’s. There have been minimal changes to how each parish operates, but some are necessary in order to make it possible for one man to manage two separate churches. The biggest change that you will notice is in the Mass schedule. It different at both places, so here it is (just FYI) in case you are still not straight on times and places!
St. Francis of Assisi
Saturdays: 4 pm
Sundays: 11:00 am
Monday & Wednesday: 8 am
St. Catherine of Siena
Saturdays: 5:15 pm
Sundays: 7:30 am & 9:30 am
Tuesday & Friday: 9:00 am
Another change that is on the horizon is that families of St. Francis will be joining the LIGHT program this year. I know we will all welcome them warmly and make them feel at home. Their numbers are not large, so we will not need to add another LIGHT night and will continue with Gatherings on Tuesdays at 5:30pm and Fridays at 6pm.
MiniLIGHT will be held the weekend of September 13/14th. Like last year, you will be able to choose from a Saturday evening or Sunday morning option. That weekend, we will join for Mass, share a meal, take care of administrative detail, and then introduce the theme for the year.
Before we turn our attention to a new topic, I thought it would be helpful to look back at what we covered last year; to remind ourselves how we are all called to live in Right Relationship with God, others, ourselves, the environment, and the world and to use our finances and our technology responsibly as we do. So look for some reflections on Living Jesus’ kind of Justice during the month of August.
One quick plug, the St. Catherine Parish Picnic is coming up on Sunday, September 7th at 12:30pm in the church hall. Tickets will be on sale after masses at the end of August. The picnic will feature great food as well as some fun activities for kids. I hope that you’ll consider joining us as we end the summer together as a parish family. The committee is looking for Master grillers, bakers, salad makers, and an assembly crew. If you are able to help, contact Connie at 737-1933 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Finally, many of you have been asking about Father Friedrichs. He is very well and enjoying the ‘easy life’ of retirement at his beautiful lakeside cottage: connecting with family and friends, enjoying the summer activities of our great state, and getting in some much needed (and deserved) R&R. He misses us, as we do him, but knows that we are in great hands with Fr. Plante.
Have a great day everyone! Looking forward to seeing you again soon!
