I hope you are all enjoying these warm (HOT) summer days and that you have found a bit of an ease from your normal routines to be able to enjoy fun times with family and friends!
Here are our next set of Evaluation Responses to look at during our LIGHT off-season! The three comments below may seem a bit disjointed and random, but in fact they make a wonderful point when taken together.
PLUS – I love Norm staying downstairs
MINUS: church is chilly / sometimes it is cold brrrr….. / the hall is too cold
MINUS: more options on Subway night (I am a vegetarian)
The first, “I love Norm staying downstairs.” Is actually the result of a MINUS comment from years past. Some people just can’t ‘do’ a lot of stairs, so this was a simple change that provided an easy alternative for those adults who need such an accommodation. It was an easy fix that made a big difference for some of our L.I.G.H.T. family members. It also allowed new people to join us once they knew the night wasn’t all about hiking the halls and stairways of the parish center!
I think that we can see the same sort of accommodation happen easily for the vegetarians among us. This MINUS is one that I have hear each spring, but then forgotten about when it was time to look at the food plan in the fall. But not this year!! If some of you can e-mail me some suggestions for Subway meal alternatives that are meat-free, I will talk to Carol about making a change for those of you who would like this option. Also, if you would be interested in having a vegetarian offering, please send me a note, so I can be in touch!
Finally, the COLD!! Brrrrr…. It doesn’t seem like such a big problem during these hot summer days :) But we all know it is a huge deal during most of our L.I.G.H.T. season. Regarding the heat in church, that is a matter of us getting up there to kick on the heat with enough time for the church to warm up. This task sometimes does not get remembered until it is too late, but we’ll do our best! And as for the hall, that is a trickier one. The heating system is not state-of-the art, so sometimes when we put it on, it does not keep up with the amount of heat that we need. We will continue to try to get it right, but it may take a few prayers to help that one along.
Thank you all for letting us know how we can tweak these matters, that might seem trivial, but are actually quite important. The more comfortable we all are, the more we will get out of each L.I.G.H.T. gathering! So keep ‘em coming! And have a great week!
See you in Church!
